The Step Sequencer

The step sequencer consists of a list of channels you are using in a song. It displays all the wav files and instruments you are using for that project.

For help with inserting wav files and VST instruments see Inserting a New Wave File Sample and Inserting a VST Instrument Channel tutorials.

The default pattern length is 16 dots, but you may change this setting by going to "Options" and then "Project General Settings".

From here you can change the "Beats per bar" as well as the "Steps per beat" settings to customize your project. Simply move the mouse arrow over the number, hold down left click on the mouse, and move the mouse either up or down. The "Timebase" (pulses per quarter)" can also be changed, so you can work in much greater detail when using the piano roll.

Pattern length can also be set and adjusted in the step sequencer window on a pattern by pattern basis by using the "Pattern Length Control" function.

Songs are written in patterns. The number of the pattern you are currently in is displayed at the top of the page. When you want to change pattern numbers you place the mouse arrow over the pattern number, hold down left click on the mouse, and move the mouse up or down, depending on the pattern number you want to go to.
